Choosing The Right Level of Play

Research has shown that children decide whether a math game is a positive experience or not based on whether they can do the math. Therefore it is really important to have games that increase the level of skill and complexity in small increments. We have over 20 games that allow you to pick the right game for specific youngster(s) at the right time. When they are ready for the next level, we have a game ready for you.

Modulate the Risk.

Zillio games are designed so you can pick the right level of risk/reward. When players are learning a new skill or playing with others that are significantly more advanced than they are, collaborative play is often a good option. Everyone works together to accomplish a goal, with no individual scores. This encourages children to participate at the more challenging pace and skill level without being overly concerned about how well they will perform.

When children are close to mastering a skill, or just like the fun and excitement of competition, play the competitive version. They will appreciate the opportunity to highlight their skills and be rewarded for superior knowledge or strategy.

Where’s the Math?

Math is found in Zillio games in three areas: setup, play and scoring. Sometimes it is the setup that is challenging mathematically and the play and scoring are easier. Sometimes the setup is easy and the play or scoring is more challenging. After you have played a game several times and observed the players’ skills, you will be able to play a variation or create variations of your own to emphasize or deemphasize a specific skill and/or increase the strategy and problem solving required.
